Following on from our Silver-Gilt winning success with the Bees Knees at RHS Malvern 2015 we were really excited to be approached by the Crown Estate and commissioned to create bee and pollinator friendly borders in Worcester City Centre.
The borders are in a prime city centre location neighbouring the historic city walls and the Crown Gate Shopping Centre.
The border design has been informed by the history of the city wall as a line of defence in the English Civil War and also the presence of a little known watercourse which is now hidden beneath the city.
A mixture of trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials, annual seed mixes and bulbs offer sources of pollen and nectar throughout the seasons, whilst hedging and grasses offer additional structure and interest.
We have also been commissioned to design a bee and pollinator friendly plant guide for the Crown Estate and interpretation boards to accompany the planting scheme. These can be viewed below.
